Truth Is Poetry
True love...
By Craig A. M. Goines
At a time in
life I knew what I wanted
not sex or money or even drugs.
I wanted a friend who always was:
Kind
Sweet
Open minded
a real blessing.
Our
relationship was special in itself.
When did you ever have a Girlfriend?
Not a person that's a girl who you call your own.
Not someone who you think you own.
But someone:
Who could talk to you about anything
That you had problem taking your eyes off them
You didn't want for sex but for them
Who’s a blessing and always knows where you come from.
At a time in
life I had true happiness that knew no ends.
Even when I was away from her,
I still would be filled with joy.
Because I knew I'd see or talk to her in the days to come.
True love is
absent of sexual lust,
but full of miss.
True love is friendship that outlasts time,
but never has a watch.
True love is having that special person,
and taking a chance by waiting.
That true love for me was my Baby Ruth.
